Envy, a potent emotion stemming from the desire for possessions others have, is part of the human experience, and when envy becomes excessive, it can become a destructive force. The engineering batch’s harmonious camaraderie prevailed. Babu’s intense infatuation with Lisa, a fellow member of the same ethnic background, unravels due to discovered incompatibilities. Other batchmates rallied to support Lisa and sparked a romantic connection between Jag Mohan Chowdhury and Lisa Mathews. This led to their eventual union through marriage three years later, despite their different ethnic backgrounds. The story then takes a dark turn as envy escalates to hatred. Jag Mohan finds himself unjustly accused of the brutal assassinations of Lisa and their daughter Jo, resulting in a three-decade imprisonment. His release on compassionate grounds leads him to refuge in an Ashram established by batchmate Sudhir, who had transitioned from a Middle East job to a monk’s life in Aravali Hills. As the narrative unfolds, the hatred and envy climax, eventually pointing to the shocking revelation that their batchmate is the true antagonist. The murder weapon remains elusive, cunningly employed to eliminate Jag Mohan’s family and erase the sole witness. Niladri Sircar was born and raised in Agra-UP. His career made him a faithful Banker—a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking, Mumbai and he travelled around India as his Bank job took him to various locations. He thus noted the tinges of life’s affinities. He observed the nuances of human preferences in and out of the corporate world. A keen reader and traveller, his multi-dimensional craving enlightened his writings. His first writing venture was in Hindi, a compendium of twelve short stories published by Raj Mangal Publishers- Aligarh UP, titled – ‘Manab Prakriti Par Kudrat kii Chaya’ translated as Nature’s Shadow on Human Nature.
