- If reputed publishers don’t show interest in my book, I can go for self-publishing. But I have no idea how to publish a book.
If these questions have crossed your mind, you are not alone! Most first-time writers face these questions. Getting published is hard, especially for first-time writers, but that's what we are here for. APK Publishers was started with the aim of helping first-time writers. So if you have an idea for any type of book, please contact us and send us your book proposal. We prefer book proposals for books that are complete or close to completion.
The book proposal should contain the following things:
- Short synopsis that gives us an idea about the genre that the book belongs to and the actual book itself
- Information about yourself and your past writing experience/projects
- Three sample chapters which will give us an idea about your book, the quality of English, and help us evaluate it
If we find your book proposal interesting, one of three things will happen:
- We will decide to publish the book, finance the cost of production ourselves, and give you royalty. The royalty is some percentage of the printed price of the book, and is decided based on a lot of factors and on a case-by-case basis.
- We will decide to publish the book, but you will have to finance the cost of production including the cost of typesetting, editing, cover design, and printing. Everything will be at actual and we will let you know in advance the costs involved, which will be reasonable and the lowest possible for sure. We will not proceed without your approval and you will always have a say in the process! Once the copies are ready, you can take them all yourself or you can take our help is distributing them, in India, and if appropriate, outside India as well.
- We will decide not to publish your book, i.e. reject your proposal. The reasons could be that the manuscript contains objectionable subject matter, or that the core idea is not powerful and good enough, or the language is just not up to the mark. The last reason is the most common reason for rejecting a proposal in our experience. Either way, we will tell you why we have rejected your book proposal. You can work on the suggestions, improve the manuscript, and re-submit.
